Another Week is Past and Gone...

Ah, I've come to the last post that I'll be making for awhile... Abi and I leave for Ireland with Gram and Aunt Holly and Uncle Mike this afternoon. We'll be gone for just a week this time. If you think of us, please pray that God would give Abi and I the boldness to obey the great commission. On our flight from Omaha to Chicago, we'll be sitting beside a stranger. I want to be bold for Jesus!

This post is just a mixture of various Grice happenings. Check back with us in, oh, maybe a week and a half, or shall we say, two weeks? Who knows! :)

Last Sunday, we had the whole church over (except for Rusty's and Chupps) for a pancake supper. Ryan donned an apron to help cook. The apron says, "You are the pineapple of my eye." :)

Katelyn can't quite figure out how to crawl in a dress, so we just tuck it into her bloomers. :)

Later in the evening we played Catch Phrase, well sort of. We just passed the buzzer around and described the things without keeping score. It was a lot of fun!

Jason was wearing Mom's glasses. See them on top of his head?

Shawn got a sliver...

Ruthanna wore slippers for shoes. :)

After everyone left, Ben joined us as we read a story that I've been reading out loud.

David and Elizabeth Bagwell left us a thank you gift in the form of a cookie mix. Sammy mixed it up... and ate some. :)

Abi started her pumpkins really early this year. We're gonna whoop those squash borers this summer!

I put that piece of cloth on Sam's head, thinking that he had prob'ly felt it. Apparently, he didn't find out till quite awhile later that he had something on his head! :)

After Abi showed him this picture, he realized that something was on his head. :)

The finished "cookie." Mom had given all the little people giant gingerbread man pans (say that 10 times fast!) for Christmas last year, so Sam made one gargantuan cookie. We covered it with a towel to keep it moist. Dad kept calling people over saying that there'd been a homicide. He didn't know how far the poor guy had fallen from, but there he was, already covered up with a sheet. :)

Last Thursday, we three girls, Kelsey and Katelyn and Irene and Annetta drove out to Zion for Meredith Keller and Teresa Kauffman's double wedding shower. Buggy was a riot on the way out!

She was being really silly. :)

The Newswangers did a beautiful job decorating at the shower!

Refreshments... Talk about refreshments!

Each girl had a table full of gifts.

Mom, giving her devotional.

The two girls had to make a cake from memory to demonstrate God's order in married life. All things must be in order to make a cake.

Part of the crowd

The girls were allowed to ask their fellow married sisters for advise if difficulties should arise.

Beating the mix with egg beaters...

A happy camper!

Panning the batter...

Finished!

Anita Zook had put together a list of funny not commonly known facts about the grooms to be to see how well the brides knew them. Everyone else participated too. I definitely didn't win! I only got six out of fifteen right. :-/

Alexis wrote Teresa's gifts down.

Meredith's little brother Elijah gave her his rock and sea shell collection, plus his prized coin collection. How sweet!

Serene wanted to give her big sister something so she gave away her own alarm clock. They all thought it was  really funny!

Opening the gift from the Glory ladies

"Klewins"

The finished cakes! Meredith's are on the left and Teresa's on the right. I liked Teresa's cake the best, but Abi liked Merdith's. To each his own I suppose...

We stayed with the Bower family for the night. We girls shared a room. Little redheaded Julia Bower is almost two. She took a shine to Irene for some reason... Climbed all over her, played with her clothes, her face, whatever she could get her hands on! It was pretty hilarious!

Julia ran out of the room at one point so we closed the door and lodged a shoe under it to keep her out. We didn't mind her being in there, but we were ready for some quiet. :)

We left around 8 the next morning. I suppose I should confess that we didn't really get to bed till after midnight... :)

Mom treated us all to cappuccinos. They were yummy, but still not as good as Casey's!

Abi made a breakfast pizza for lunch on Saturday. Since we weren't coming home after Sat. morning Bible study, she stayed home to do our mountain of laundry.
After Bible study that morning, almost all of us, some Zooks, and some Gavins went to help out with the Griswold food drive. Food is donated to the drive every year to be given out to the needy. This year, they used the community center to set up the food give away tables. Tables were set up throughout the length of the building for the food. We were there to help people carry their boxes and bags of food. It was a really good experience for us. I really enjoyed it!

Well, I'm off to continue packing, checking and rechecking lists, and getting myself ready to travel internationally. (No I'm not going to forget my passport!) :)

Good bye! Good bye! "Parting is such sweet sorrow" in the immortal words of Shakespeare.
