A Good Nights Sleep... Finally

I tell you what, that second night of really good rest felt so refreshing! No rain, no lightning or thunder, no coyotes (that I heard, anyway), just a peaceful, quiet night...

Morning dawned warm and gentle, a number ten day. Slowly, family started emerging bright eyed, and, definitely bushy-tailed, from their respective tents.

Hope left shortly after breakfast for home. She left very dirty, but very happy! :)

Ryan, our pyromaniac. :)

Aunt Carol's famous pancakes with chocolate chips and candied nuts... Another camping favorite.

Mm...Mm... tablespoons of butter on the skillet results in crispy pancake edges.

The pioneers

Ready... Set...

...Flip!

Slightly blurry, but it's the finished product!

All ready for a new day!

See must've spit up...

The chocolate chips and nuts were optional.

Waiting for seconds :)

According to Uncle Bernie all of us "country kids" have disgusting hobbit feet. See if you can guess who's feet these are. :)

I was what we term the 'butter girl'. No, I'm not fat, just the 'butter girl'. I plop the butter on the skillet as needed. :)

Ben, the plate holder.

Looks like Gracie's ready to go fishing! T.J. got her a new fishing pole as a surprise. She was so excited!

He's either fainting from shear palatable ecstasy, or else, it's absolutely disgusting.

Sam, the waiter, carrying the left over pancakes.

We had a problem finding containers and things to store leftovers in. Whoops, guess we'll have to remember that for next year. :)

Does the term 'lap of luxury' come to mind when you see our coffee and hot Irish tea center? I'm not sure why we never made use of the pavilion in previous years, it was so handy.

While lounging around after breakfast, Mom read a Psalm to those still at the campsite. It was very refreshing to be washed in the scripture!

Baby Fat

Sweet little hands...

The little people were bored so they got permission to listen to read aloud stories on the iPad. Abi and I ended up joining them and listening too. :)

Aunt Carol made a yummy potato soup for lunch.

Had to get one of these common shots...

Abi had a headache so she read for quite awhile on the iPad.

Gram brought some Irish peat moss (turf) along to burn.

Here goes!

The marsh-mellow tent
Mom turned the front canopy over the top of the tent and tied the strings to the back poles. With the wind blowing, it made it look like a marsh-mellow.

Even though we'd had a good nights rest, we were still tired. I took the little people into our tent to read. After reading awhile, I got so tired that my eyes were just about crossing. Time to get up and stretch a bit. :)

Our fisher guys, coming back from the rock cut.

Bring on the S'mores, it's night time!

Ry and Kels provided the S'mores. The marsh-mellows were fun, red white and blue stars!

Brie got stung by a bee on her calf. She really swelled up bad!

Mom had the boys stay back from fishing so that we could have some 'family time' around the fire. She called Gram and had her think of different childhood memories that she could share. It was a sweet time!

See that S'more in Ryan's hand? Ok, this is a secret, so listen tight, he ate 5 S'mores that night!

Ooie-gooie yumminess!

Roasted Cheetos again

Have you ever had a good natured nut throwing fight after quiet hour and with other campers there? Well, we sure did! But, boy, were we quiet! Lot's of suppressed laughter, some of it escaping, but quiet for the most part. :)

Go Aunt Carol!

Go Kels!

I actually didn't join in, I was the journalist, and journalists don't actually get involved in the battle! Right?!

Somewhere around 11:30 found us hitting the hay. We went peacefully to sleep, only to be awakened in the small hours of the morning by the ominous sounds of thunder...

...Rain...

...Again...

Trying to Catch Up...

As you have probably noticed, I've gone off the radar for awhile. Ok, for a long time. I have one word for you. Life. Guys, life reall...
