Before Bible School Synopsis

Well, before I start, I've been wanting to do a post where I'd write exactly how we talk in our family, if that makes any sense. So just a heads up for all you perfectionists out there, this post will be far from perfect! It's all just for kicks of course. :)

We youth will be headin' for Bible School this Friday. There will be six of us going, Josh, KK, Matthias, Irene, Annatta, and me. Mostly through chance, all of us are stayin' at the same house! :) Please keep us in your prayers next week. Pray that we would have open hearts to what He might want to speak to us.

Abi cooked down a buncha squash for pumpkin butter. We were planning on setting up a small table with baked goods and some of our jam and butters during Griswold's city wide garage sales. We did really well and actually made a good bit of extra cash. :)

Dad and Sam had been craving steak for awhile, so they finally got one made. Dad showed Sam how to marinate it and grill it to perfection.

Here they are, enjoying their treat!

Yuh-hum! Pumpkin Butter!

Dad made a perfectly lovely roast in the crock pot one day. Seems like we photographed a lotta food this month... :)

With seven full grown people and one little boy in the house, laundry sure piles up! We've been havin' a terrible time keepin' up on it.

Somebody had given Dad some balloons while he was sick. Sometimes, they would follow wind currents through our house, showing up in the funniest places. :)
One evening, the boys decided it would be very entertaining to suck the helium out. The results were hysterical!

Abi was rifling through a bag o' chips when she found this beauty... A four inch potato chip!

KK couldn't gettit t' fit n' 'is mouth. :) (Boy, we should be Cockney English!)

Since we had invited some visiting guests and Leon's over for Sunday lunch, Dad prepared grilled chicken.

It was some o' the best chicken I've ever had!

Abi's been at 'er cheese makin' again.

Abi's been keeping a sour dough starter going. It actually smells really good!

Mom and Dad bought Sam an RC for his birthday. He was thrilled! It' sum'm he's been wanting for a long time!

While Kels was at the women's retreat a couple weeks ago, we got to watch the babies. We kept Katelyn all the time and Doughy during the day. He went home with Ryan at night.
Anyway, they were getting ready to go outside when I noticed how cute Lynna was with her pony tail peeking outta her hood.

The threesome

She has really come to enjoy havin' books read t' her. It's good practice fur Sam! :)

Abi mixed up a new recipe of cookies. They had to refrigerate, so when they were done, I baked 'em. Katelyn was so excited! She "helped" me by eating dough and watching them bake. :)

She loves "helping" Mom change Dad's medicine!

Mom had fed them chocolate pudding, and these are the results...

We milk every morning and every evening at 7. Abi took these next several pictures one morning when we went out to milk.

After we finish milking, I usually do the chick chores while Abi finishes up her little things she does after milking. It usually takes us 20-25 minutes to milk.

Waiting for her sweet feed...

The finished product! We haven't quite figured out how 't use the chocolate milk machine, but we'll git there! :)

Early morning at the Grices.

Dad and the boys got this UnderArmor jacket for Sam as a surprise.

Cheese makin' again!

Abi finally broke down 'n bought a nice thermometer.

The waiting cheese cloth...

:)

Dad drilled holes in this pitcher to make the cheese press container.

The boys have so much fun watching squirrels while they hunt. They often come home with a  squirrel picture or two. :)

It's b'n so cold in our house! One morning it was in the mid 50s, but the average tempature in our house has been 66*. We finally brought the iHeater down from the attic, much to everyone's delight! This is a common morning sight, everybody gathered 'round the heat source.

Abi was bein' silly.

Sam gottahold of the camera and started snapping pictures. I'm cutting out a blouse here.

The culprit

Dad and I have been craving jalapeƱo poppers, so when we got home from church last Sunday, he whipped some up. They were heavenly!

On Monday, Abi made sour dough cheddar onion bread. It's an old family recipe that we've been making fur, oh, 'bout 15 years. :)

She also made another old family favorite... Sweet potatoes!

These are traditionally made in round loaves, but Abi forgot. They tasted just fine in this shape, though!

Dad had made some beef stew for supper, so we had fresh bread and stew! Wow!

I've been wanting to make cookies for quite awhile, so I finally got around to it the other day. I made chocolate crinkle cookies, for those that'r wondering.

Burr!

Abi's cheese has been curing. I can't wait to taste it!

Isn't it amazing what awful English we use?! It's something you never really think about until someone corrects you. :) Hey, at least my grammar is usually correct! :)

Let's all strive to speak the King's English with as much perfection and correctness as possible!

Trying to Catch Up...

As you have probably noticed, I've gone off the radar for awhile. Ok, for a long time. I have one word for you. Life. Guys, life reall...
