Winter Storm Warning

Feb. 1, 2 found us hunkering down for an honest to goodness snowstorm. The weather man was predicting up to a foot of snow, but it seems like you can't really trust them anymore. We still kinda hoped that it might just be true. This would be our biggest snowfall since... I don't know when.

It snowed all night Saturday making it impossible to get to church. It was fun having a mini service at home, though. :) We listened to a message that Denny Kenaston preached in (I think) 2005. After that, we spent a most relaxing afternoon of games, family time, yummy food, coffee, hot chocolate and cappuccinos. :)

What a welcome rest for our family! That was the most relaxing time we've had in years. I think we should get snowed in more often. :)

The snow was falling thick and fast Saturday night. I thought this picture was kinda neat with the reflection of the ceiling fan.

Winter Wonderland

Visibility wasn't very far. This is Marci's house just down the road from us.

I measured the snow in the open space by our garden. It was nearly a foot! The snow would've fallen almost straight down here.

Sammy and I

Poor "Dotson" does NOT like snow at all! :)

Talitha was having fun!

Have you ever tried of clear 6 inches of snow from a vehicle?

Abi and Josh drove the short distance to Ellie's house to shovel her out.

Some of our neighbors...

Our sidewalk

A tractor and a dump truck stopped to chat on the road. Before long, a feed truck came, creating a nice little traffic jam on our road. :)

The sun will always come back out!

Sunday morning

These icicles got really long by the end of the day!

I love the textures and contrasts in the snow!

Little diamonds

Sam was plowing with the two-wheeler (a dolly, in other words).

Josh drove Abi and I to our cleaning job Monday morning. He had to shovel snow in Griswold, so we just hitched a ride with him.

Ben was over at our house for some reason Monday night. About 8, we thought it'd be so much fun to go sledding on our snow packed gravel roads in the dark.

It was so much fun, but oh, so cold!

KK decided to sled down the hill backwards and laying down. :)

Then, he and Ben went down backwards and in the same sled.

It was a riot!

KK's epic ditch jump. Sorry it gets black at the end of the video. We didn't have the light ready.

At one point, Josh slid down the ditch in the sled... right into a thorn bush. Thankfully he didn't get stabbed. He said he can recognize a thorn bush anywhere, even in the dark! :D
