An Afternoon at the Rock Cut

One balmy Sunday afternoon, a group of us decided to take a trip to the Rock Cut.

We drove by the Martin's old house. :)

It was very overgrown on the trails, but it was gorgeous back in there!

A beaver had built a dam in one of the little creeks. It flooded a pretty good sized area.

When we finally arrived at the Rock Cut, we weren't too surprised to see the Nishnabotna river flowing over the rocks.

We hiked down along the bank to a sand bar.

We spent the time skipping rocks, drawing in the sand and just throwing rocks. :)

After we'd exhausted the rock supply on the sand bar, we hiked back to the Cut where we scrambled around on the ledges, trying not to fall in. :)

The river was so high that it was actually pretty dangerous. If any of us had fallen in, we would've had hardly any chance of surviving it.

Abi and Brie threw a big rock into the river. It made a huge splash, spraying all of us liberally with sand and stinky Nishnabotna water. We all screamed. It was pretty funny. :)

Pretending to fall in :)

Shortly after this picture, Josh threw that rock in right behind Brie and Sam. :D

Aw! Aren't they cute? Not!

Afterwards, we went to Casey's for ice-cream and snacks, then we went to the bandshell park in Griswold to devour them. :) It was a fun, relaxing time spent with family and friends (well, just one friend)!
