Irish Breakfast and Aunt Lynn and Uncle Larry's Visit

Last week, Gramp's brother and sister, Larry and Lynn, drove down for a visit. We hadn't seen either since 2010, the year before Gramps died.

It was very interesting to hear some of their childhood stories, as Gramps never really shared any with us. The Lowis family had some pretty hard knocks along the bumpy road of life.

We also had our Irish reunion breakfast the morning before they came. The first several pictures are of the breakfast. It's been 2 years this September since we made our first voyage into Ireland. Even though we went back this April, I'm ready to go again! They say that once one has gone to Ireland, there's no stopping!

Ever since our camera fell off the top of a fridge onto a concrete floor, it hasn't worked right. I think the sensor got messed up... So, sorry about the blurry pictures.

Sammy has been gathering these crystal looking rocks.

All ready!

We had Krusteaz pancakes...

...beans, Irish scrambled eggs...

...Chocolate and white chocolate croissants, bangers, bacon and tea!

The "sophisticated" table
This breakfast brought back so many nostalgic memories of breakfasts in Ireland- the damp, slightly chilly mornings gathered round the breakfast table; the rich, smooth, intense flavor of Irish tea; the kindness of our hosts; the close, family togetherness that bound us even closer. Those are memories that will last a lifetime!

Cute whale spouts

The "unsophisticated" table :)

Yummy for the tummy, but not for the hips!

Joseph was so smiley after breakfast.

Some of our favorite Irish shops... Blarney Woolen Mills and Griffins Garden Center. We could spend hours in them and walk out without buying a thing. Not that we didn't want anything, but none of us could afford it, or at least justify paying so much! :)

The dishes

Did you ever see a cuter face?!

Talking the hours away till Uncle Larry and Aunt Lynn came...

Cead Mile Failte!
A Hundred Thousand Welcomes!

Fat boy spit up all over himself and Mommy so he had to be changed from the skivvies out.

They finally got to Gram's around 4:30 that afternoon. That's Uncle Larry on the couch with his Chihuahua, Princess. Kelsey the dog and Princess didn't get along too well...

That's Aunt Lynn on the bench with Mom.

Uncle Mike, Uncle Bernie, and Matt and Gabby came to visit too.

Aunt carol made a yummy supper of roast chicken with roasted potatoes.

Uncle Mike and Hope have a funny relationship. Here he was tossing her around and lifting her all the way up to the ceiling. :)

Liya has gotten so cute! She looks exactly like a Hershey's kiss.

Uncle Larry has an iPhone, so Gram and he had to have an "i" session. :)

Abi and Brie stripped the rest of the chicken down so Aunt Carol could make BBQ chicken for lunch the next day. After I took this picture they wanted me to take another one 'cause they didn't want this one on the blog. :)

Here's the "good" one. :)

Looking through stacks of Gramp's old family photos. It was so interesting to hear all the stories.

This is Franklin, their Dad. I didn't even think of taking a picture of their mom... She was a beautiful woman!

A two dog open wagon!

Uncle Larry and Aunt Lynn left early Sunday morning for home. Aunt Lynn is from Wisconsin and Uncle Larry is from Michigan.

It was so nice to see them again! Who knows if we'll ever get to see them again... I hope that we were able to shine Christ's light to them.

Trying to Catch Up...

As you have probably noticed, I've gone off the radar for awhile. Ok, for a long time. I have one word for you. Life. Guys, life reall...
