Mary Did You Know

This was for yesterday, Christmas Eve, but, yet again, I forgot to post it...

Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene wrote the lyrics and music to this Christmas carol in the 80s. It has since become a modern Christmas classic.

Out of all the carols, this has to be my favorite... The lyrics paint pictures in your mind of Mary as she brooded over her miracle baby. These are some of my favorite lines, "This child you've delivered, will soon deliver you." "... your baby boy has walked where angels trod..." "...you have kissed the face of God..." "This sleeping Child you're holding is the great I AM."

It just gives me shivers whenever I hear those lines. I wonder just how much Mary did know, or guessed...

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will make a blind man see?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the mute will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.
