When Pigs Fly in "Tennkucky" October 6th-11th

This post is LONG over due... As you know Dad, Ben, Josh, and I went to "Missionaire" in Tompkinsville, Kentucky so the boys could do testing and fly airplanes (in short :)). Anyway we left on October 6th and got home on the 19th. We thought at first that we would have to camp outside on the airport grounds, but the chairman of Missionaire said that we could stay in the unfinished apartment above their office. That was a BIG blessing because it was cold and rainy a lot of the time we were there.
By the way, "Tennkucky" was coined by Ben when they were first planning this trip. He hardly ever remembered if they were going to Kentucky or Tennessee. Hence, "Tennkucky." :)
Now, please take note that I may not have all the facts correct... I am not the most detailed person. So take it all with a grain of salt. So, my apologies in advance! :) :)
You can get on Missionaire's website here.

First Stop
We left the house around 5:30 a.m.. It was so cold out!

Raining

It rained almost the whole way there. Which was somewhat annoying! :)

GASP!
We found this quite funny.

Josh, reading on the Kindle

Dad, driving

Ben, the nagivator.

The St. Louis Arch

Kentucky here we come!!

I liked how the camera focused on Dad and the map.

Double Promise
A double rainbow from our Savior...

And a BEAUTIFUL sunset!

Rain, rain go away! Come again another day!

We got to the Missionaire Airport in Kentucky around six or seven p.m..

----

It was so pretty the first morning we were there!

What a view
You could almost see the whole runway, which was very nice when the boys were flying for picture taking.

Dad and Robert Schuerman, the boys flight instructor, talking.
This was taken just after the boys (with Dad listening in) had flight lessons with the High school students.

Dauntless
The boys were doing pre-tests together to prepare for their ground school tests. They had to score 90% to 100% before Robert would let them try the test. Robert has a 100% student passing reputation. In other words, he is a good instructor. :)

Dad, taking pictures of the boys working to send to Mom and Aunt Carol.

This is the kitchen we cooked in. We had to go down a flight of around twenty-five stairs and down a long hallway to get there. I am not sure what we were eating...

This was fun... there was a computer hooked up to a projector screen that we sometimes used to look at things online, or Ben would do Dauntless on it. I enjoyed watching Daddy use it! :P

More Dauntless
This also is the room that the High School students had their flight school in. Dad and I slept in the room to the left. There was a bathroom in there that we got all ready to use by, I think, it was the 9th. Before that we had to walk down all twenty-five stairs, down that long hallway, and past the kitchen to get to the bathrooms. It wasn't that bad. :)

This is where Josh slept for the most part. Behind me was the game room (with nothing to 'game' with in it), the school room and then our room.

Daddy working on the toilet that had a cracked bowl or something. The shower is to the right.

Working on the leaky sink.

Working on a bench
Straight ahead is where Josh was sleeping and to the right is where Ben slept (in the 'game' room).

Great work Daddy!!
From this window you could almost see the whole runway. They are hoping to build a deck outside this window. The closet to the left is where you would go out onto it. Right now there is nothing out there but a roof.

The Jenny
This is an airplane that they have been working on for a LONG time trying to get it fly-able. The person(s) who built it did not know what they were doing when they made it. It originally was made for a movie documentary about this airplane being rebuilt and flying again. But when the owner of it found out that the airplane was un-flyable, he gave up and sold it to the man in the red hat by the propellor. The new owner brought it to Missionaire to have them fix it up. Till now, the only thing that Missionaire did not have to work on was the tail and the engine... They were going to fly it the day we left, but the weather was bad. The boys were disappointed. :(

This is the Cessna 172 that the boys flew with Robert.

The hard workers...

An airplane taking off. It was so fun to watch!

These wasps were right outside where they are wanting to put the deck... Want to go sit out there with me?? Sorry... not me!

Robert came back from flying someone and the boys helped him tie down the airplane.

More to come later.......
