Texas Vacation- Day 5

New Years Eve! The last day of 2016 was rather boring for me. Everyone but a few of us went to tour the USS Lexington, an old aircraft carrier. I stayed back to watch the babies for Ry and Kels. We had a nice quiet day, but by evening, I had cabin fever big time! Thankfully, I was able to run down to the beach with everybody and burn some pent up energy off.

Thousands of these little clams would wash ashore everyday. They were so fun to watch! They'd just be sitting there, then, before you knew it, they were burrowing into the sand. It felt really yucky to stand on a minefield of these guys. You could feel them wiggling under your feet.

Brie, digging for clams.

We rented a golf cart from the company that owns our house. Since we had rented one of their houses, we got a discount on the golf cart. It's usually $150 a day, but they gave it to us for $50! It was very nice to have for Gram and the littles. Of course the boys enjoyed it too.

Everyone showed up on the beach that morning!

This man was "clamming." Unlike us, he had special tools for it.

Gin bought this gummy tarantula for Nate at a local old-fashioned candy store, Winton's Island Candy. Gin slipped it onto Nate's plate, giving him quite the scare!

The boy's were in seventh heaven while touring the USS Lexington!

Look at the size of that chain!

The two jailbirds

Abi said these guns could swivel in all directions.

I think I'd feel claustrophobic in these bunks!

Chapel
Notice the big cables running along the ceiling? Abi said you could hear the electricity humming through them, they were so big!

They watched a 3D video on the carrier.

Ben took this awesome picture. 😉

Both babies fell asleep, so it got even quieter around the house toward the afternoon!

Katelyn and I snuck down to our room to share some candy.

Waiting for the New Year...

Lil' miss loved getting into the game cupboard and making a mess!

Happy New Year!
We all went out on the balcony just after midnight. Our neighbors were still out and started yelling "Happy New Year" over to us. 😄

While our neighbors celebrated on their balcony, we had our own celebration inside.
