Texas Vacation- Day 8

Our sixth day in Texas dawned bright and beautiful.

There was a fog covering the ground.

A little visitor 😉

We had set this day aside to go tour the Alamo in San Antonio.

Everyone was tired. 😋

This tree was fascinating!

This part of San Antonio reminded me of The Old Market in Omaha.

We all had to take selfies in front of the Alamo. Actually, this was the chapel. Most of the original Alamo has been destroyed.

We wore our Our Iowa t-shirts to show off our wonderful state. 😉

The Alamo was originally a Catholic mission.

Read the plaque below! 😃

Behind us is the original mission well.

There's the well. Abi took a picture of us beside it.

This huge clump of cactus was pretty amazing!

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the chapel.

I don't know if you've ever read up on the battle of the Alamo, but this particular spot played an integral part in the fate of the mens' lives.

They were selling coonskin caps in the gift shop.

The street that the Alamo was on was blocked off. We decided it was because too many tourists were probably getting hit by cars. People would pose for pictures while the photographer backed out into the street without looking.

The hole closest to the bottom on the left is an original canon ball hole.

Waiting for Ryan and Kels...

I found a Living Waters Ten Commandments coin in the flower bed behind us.

It's extremely hard to get a large group of people to pose! After all the pictures we took, not one has everyone looking at the camera!

We had to park pretty far away.

The street names were named after the famous men who fought at the Alamo.

I'm sure Davy Crockett must've made a lot of money off this hotel during the days of the Alamo...

Nate and Gin wanted to treat us all with Dominoes pizza. After a huge fiasco trying to find a park to eat in, we finally got our act together. It was torture driving around with that pizza!

Some people were very hangry... But, once we'd stuffed our faces to our bellies' content, everyone felt a lot better!

We'd had breakfast around 7, and by this time it was about 3. So, you can imagine how ravenous we were.

Wow, six pizzas gone like that! Those last few pieces didn't last very long.

The littles were enthralled by this friendly mallard duck.

It was a pretty little park.

Finally, a sunset to top all sunsets...

We were exhausted by the time we got back! It had been a long day. I don't think anybody groaned about going to bed that night. 😊
