Church's Thanksgiving

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we had our annual church Thanksgiving. Martins were in charge of the planning and decorating this year. Everything looked very festive!

The tables were decorated with oranges, limes, pistachios, mints, and candles.

Just look at that sweet face! (Not mine...)

Tanya was being so sweet with Katers. She just kept hugging and kissing her. :)

"By the crowd of worshipers..."

Uho...

Cutting all those yummy pies was a temptation!

Chupps brought a pumpkin full of mashed potatoes.

Waiting for the turkeys...

Hooray! The turkeys are here! Whoops, and Edward and Joel...

Wow! Smoked turkey with bacon!

How many men does it take to carve the turkeys?

Before we prayed for the meal, Edward led us in a song.

The first table going through!

Poor Amy was left all by herself while the rest of the Zooks went through the line. She was perfectly happy, though. :)

My plate... Little bit of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy, a roll, LOTS of sweet potato casserole, and two pieces of pie. Perfect.

This little boy ate way more than I did!

Katelyn's first Thanksgiving!

When I took this picture, I was struck with the profound silence. Everyone was so busy stuffing their faces that hardly anyone was talking. :)

Martins had each family stand up and say what they're thankful for. We weren't supposed to do the "normal" things, but something more obscure. Leon's are sharing here.

Mom gave Katelyn a lime!

It took a little for the taste to sink in.

Then, yuck! She made the best faces! :)

The girls worked on cleaning up after the meal while the children packed baskets.

Edward made a long assembly line for the baskets.

They had a lot of fun!

The carnage

More carnage

It's ok, everything's still hunky-dory... I think...

The boys, yes, the boys were cleaning up!

All the finished baskets

Visiting

Marty got pushed out of the way so that the boys could sweep. He seemed perfectly happy waiting way over by the door. :)

Zooks had run out of baked beans, so Marcus told Mabel that she should get them some more from the bent and dent store. Mabel thought that was really funny, so she gave him a small can of beans. Well, according to Marcus, they were the wrong kind and the can wasn't big enough. So, Mabel got him a big can of beans. :)

Dad played stink flower with the children.

Tanya loved taking pictures with Irene and Annetta's Nikon.

Someone got ahold of our camera...

Annetta gave Michael a lime. At first he liked it, but when they got more juice out he made the sourest faces! It was really cute!
